Reports to the Youth Education Manager. This is a two-part internship that involves two full weeks of on-site teaching/production assistant support for the Young Filmmaker Camp and then one day/week fro the duration of the term providing assistance to the Curriculum Manager in researching and developing the Youth Education online curriculum project. Provides additional program support to the Youth Education department as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend all Young Filmmakers Camp sessions (9am-4pm M-F: July 8–12 & 15–19 and July 29–Aug 2 & Aug 5–9)
• Support camp instructors as a teaching and production assistant
• Provide adult supervision and work directly with camp participants (ages 14–18) in helping them to produce short film projects
• Document all camp sessions through photo and video coverage
• Assist the instructors and Camp Coordinator with all camp logistics and with the preparation of materials and resources
• Do online research of web-based curriculum resources and other media education programs
• Assist the Curriculum Manager in development of online educational resources for teaching media literacy and filmmaking
• Provide additional research and administrative support to the Youth Education Manager as needed
• Provide event support for screenings and filmmaker visits as needed
   

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS

• Strong desire to work with teens in an educational setting
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with both parents and teens
• Knowledge of basic film production is essential
• Demonstrated proficiency with digital video cameras, including DSLRs
• Mac literate
• Proficiency with Final Cut Pro
• Ability to take direction and work independently, as well as work as a team to support the instructors
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
• Good research skills
• Strong interest in media education and curriculum development
• Experience with web-based educational resources a plus
• Previous classroom or teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory
• Professional demeanor combined with an ability to have fun with young people
• Passion for both film and teaching
