San Francisco-based artist Lucy Gray will be on hand for an intimate talk about her work and the creative impulse.  While Gray is recognized for her compelling, minimalist photographic portraits of people—such as the “Big Tilda” exhibition in 2006, which featured huge collaged images of actress Tilda Swinton projected onto City Hall during the San Francisco International Film Festival—her artistry is not merely limited to photography. This unique event will feature a screening of her magical debut short film Genevieve Goes Boating followed by two scene readings from Lucy’s latest artistic venture A Stage of Her Own, a play based on the life and work of notable theatrical producer Irene Selznick.  Writer and frequent City Arts and Lectures interviewer Steven Winn will moderate a discussion with Gray as she describes the process behind her rich and multi-faceted work.
