A 35-year-old husband and father refuses to grow up in this funny and melancholic slice of Americana, one that wouldn’t be too out of place in the Wes Anderson catalogue. Matt McGrath (Boys Don’t Cry) plays the reluctant adult, who sets out with a friend on a road trip through Florida to relive their favorite childhood memories, in a story that explores nostalgia, says director David Munro (Bullethead). “Recently, [nostalgia] has taken on a whole new function—as a security blanket for a generation of thirty- and fortysomethings who for the first time in history locate themselves by looking back instead of forward. In tragicomic fashion, it defines our main character, whose whimsical, disabling desire to relive his childhood is nothing short of pathological.”
