The Film Society, with the Presidio Trust, celebrates the tenth anniversary of the beloved Film in the Fog. The free, family-friendly film screening will feature Delmer Daves’s gritty film noir thriller Dark Passage (USA 1947), a musical performance, a classic animated short and free freshly-popped popcorn. As always, Film in the Fog will be preceded by a ’50s-era newsreel and a cartoon. Prior to the film program, local indie music darlings Grass Widow will entertain with their combination of energized rock and delicate three-part harmonies. The spacious lawn of the Presidio Main Post theater has room for low lawn chairs and blankets, and the public is encouraged to arrive early to select a prime picnic spot. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the Presidio’s Kitchen 39.

ABOUT 'DARK PASSAGE'
Convicted murderer Vincent Parry (Humphrey Bogart) escapes from San Quentin and goes on the lam to try to prove his innocence. He accidentally meets Irene Jansen (Lauren Bacall), who takes him in and becomes his protector. Before Parry undergoes plastic surgery to change his appearance, his face does not appear on screen. Following surgery, when the bandages are dramatically removed, lo and behold, he looks exactly like Humphrey Bogart! Filmed almost entirely on location in San Francisco, including a decidedly tense moment on the Golden Gate Bridge, the film is a classic moody, romantic film noir. Director Delmer Daves, a San Francisco native, filmed in his beloved city by the Bay.
