Kill List
Directed by Ben Wheatley
Ben Wheatley follows up his heralded Down Terrace with another inventive, genre-flouting film. Taking a non-traditional approach to the horror genre, Kill List begins with an uncomfortable dinner party with two hit men in attendance and takes several different dramatic (and, eventually, quite bloody) turns after that. Moving effortlessly from kitchen-sink realism to stakeout humor and ending up in the occult territory of The Wicker Man, Wheatley's film is consistently unsettling, surprising and shocking. As the London Guardian puts it, "If Ricky Gervais or Mike Leigh made a horror film, it might look something like this."

"Kill List will leave your bones rattling."
—Indiewire
"Artfully made and sensitively acted, this is a slippery, teasing thriller that trusts its audience to follow the kitchen-sink marital quarrels as closely as the things going bump in the night." —Variety
"A first-class nerve-jangling horror film." —Time Out New York
"Grade A, A brutally unsettling masterpiece." —IndieWIRE
"Every component of Kill List is on fire. I beg of you to see it. It will shake you." —Fangoria
"Kill List is a film that almost certainly demands and will reward a second viewing, if nothing else to fully appreciate what Wheatley is doing here, combining a seething dramatic atmosphere where naturalistic conversational exchanges arise, with blunt passion and actions that reflect the inner turmoil of the characters." —Twitch
"As far as British horror goes right now, Kill List is pretty much top of the range."
—The Guardian
"The best horror film of the year." —Bloody Disgusting
