 Felicia Lowe Him Mark Lai (formerly Barefoot Historian) explores the critical pioneering role of community historian, Him Mark Lai whose intellectual curiosity, historical imagination, ability to read and write Chinese earned him the title of the “scholar who legitimized Chinese American history.” An engineer by day, scholar by night, he set out to do his own original research from primary sources and filled a void he found in the existing historical narrative, prying open a space in the master narrative. | When making a fiscal sponsorship donation with a credit card, 3% is deducted from the donation amount to cover the merchant account processing fees.
