![]() Susheel Bibbs Anna and Emma Hyers were African-American operatic prodigies of the1880s and 90s who used their art and sterling reputations actively to foster interracial harmony and social justice for their people. During a time of peril for African Americans -- lynchings, the rise of the KKK, forced migrations, and ridicule -- the Hyers presented unique musicals that countered propaganda and changed the American theatre. Their model of activism and art will inspire today's artists and viewers young and old. This sixty-minute documentary by EMMY award-winning producer-director Susheel Bibbs will provide colorful reenactments, contemporary performance, and new perspectives on these valuable but forgotten Americans. | When making a fiscal sponsorship donation with a credit card, 3% is deducted from the donation amount to cover the merchant account processing fees.
