Film Society Awards Night is one of San Francisco’s most highly anticipated black-tie gala events, benefiting SFFS's year-round programming. This lively and memorable evening honors this year’s directing, acting and screenwriting award recipients with peer tributes and career highlights, includes a special presentation honoring the pioneering work of Ray Dolby, and features a special tribute to George Gund III.
Film Society Awards Night is chaired by Todd and Katie Traina.

The Peter J. Owens Award is made possible by a grant from the Peter J. Owens Trust at the San Francisco Foundation. Gary Shapiro and Scott Owens, trustees. The Founder’s Directing Award is given in memory of Irving M. Levin, the visionary founder of the San Francisco International Film Festival in 1957. The Kanbar Award is made possible by San Francisco Film Society board member Maurice Kanbar.
