The Bay Area is home to some of the most vital filmmakers working today. While these artists are certainly an eclectic bunch, uniting many of them is their investigation of social justice. This shorts program provides a quick snapshot of an array of approaches to unearthing that thematic. From the established guard of the late Gail Dolgin and Robin Fryday, the new ranks of Amanda Micheli and Barry Jenkins to up-and-comers such as Maris Curran and Jason Jaikaitis, Reel SF gives viewers a mini-capsule of where Bay Area filmmaking has been and where it is headed. The future is bright indeed.
