Find Your Story
The Screenwriting Sequence leads students from a raw idea through to a completed screenplay draft over a six-month period. Find Your Story and Level I: Launch Your Screenplay welcome writers new to the screenwriting craft as well as writers accomplished in other forms who want an introduction to screenwriting. Level II: the Challenge of the Second Act and Level III: Complete the Journey are writers’ workshops that offer in-depth critiques and group support for the script development process. Take one or all four classes and complete a draft of a screenplay.
Find Your Story will help you shape a raw idea into a fleshed-out story ready to be developed in screenplay form. A well-crafted film tells a memorable story in pictures, words, sound and movement. The first session features a screening and analytical discussion, followed by two sessions of writing, conceptual exercises and discussion. You will be encouraged to consider several options that bring your idea, point of view and character into sharper focus. This class prepares you for Level I: Launch Your Screenplay.
