President of Lucas Licensing Howard Roffman in person.
Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing, shared a behind-the-scenes look at how art, science, technology and entertainment came together in the creation of Lucasfilm, Ltd. This inaugural program in the Lucasfilm series told the inspiring story of George Lucas’s journey from Modesto, California high school student to founder of one of the world’s leading entertainment companies. In his compelling 90-minute multimedia presentation, Roffman spoke to a packed house about the driving forces behind Lucas’s greatest technical and artistic breakthroughs, using a selection of current and archival clips and images from the company’s rich history. Students had the opportunity to ask Roffman a range of questions about his job, their favorite Lucas films and games and how they might get a job or internship with the company. All questioners were rewarded with a free Lucas t-shirt.

I was so impressed with Howard Roffman's presentation. He struck such a perfect balance between being informative and funny, and never talked down to the group. The students were remarkably attentive to the entire program. It was very enlightening and positive, something sorely needed these days. —Teacher/parent

It’s great to get to hear people involved in the making of a movie that the kids get to see. I think it makes them feel like they, too, could pursue moviemaking, or whatever is important to them. It brings the makers down to a human level so that kids can envision working and succeeding in helping to make a film. —Teacher/parent
