Set against the backdrop of one of the worst economic crises in modern history, Autoworker Blues is a portrait of loss and renewal at California’s last remaining automobile assembly factory. When the half-century old plant faces closure its blue-collar union workers fight to save their jobs – and their middle class way of life. A revolutionary Silicon Valley electric car company may save the plant but the venture could prove too little too late for many longtime autoworkers. Through the lens of this single factory and its workforce, Autoworker Blues explores a frightening reality: access to the American Dream of middle class prosperity is slipping away for the working class.
