Heartbreak and Heroism: Stories From The Plague Years in San Francisco
David R. Weissman
It has been almost 30 years since the first cases of AIDS appeared in San Francisco. Heartbreak and Heroism will be the first deep and reflective look back on how the epidemic impacted the city and its inhabitants. The film will explore what was not so easy to discern in the midst of it all, especially the parallel histories of suffering and loss, and the extraordinary community coalescence and empowerment.

Here
Braden King
Here is a formally groundbreaking, landscape-obsessed road movie that chronicles a brief but intense romantic relationship between an American satellite-mapping engineer and an expatriate Armenian art photographer who impulsively decide to travel into uncharted territory—both literally and metaphorically.
The History of the Universe as Told by Wonder Woman
Kristy Guevara-Flanagan, Kelcey Edwards
Comic books, as a form of populist art and literature—cheap to produce and affordable to buy—reveal more than just an ever-changing plot line. In looking back, one can see through story-line evolutions: the obsessions of the culture, the shift in political landscapes, and reactions to the pertinent issues of the times. This documentary looks at the 67 year career of Wonder Woman—anomalous in that she is the longest running comic book female superhero—and examines how she further illuminates these histories by also commenting on the rise of mainstream feminism... and the backlash against it.
Honoring Aging Women
Heather Gwaltney, Doyle Saylor
The documentary Honoring Aging Women speaks to America’s war on aging. Filmmakers Heather Gwaltney and Doyle Saylor explore what it looks and feels like to be an aging woman in America. They blend revealing personal and expert interviews with thought-provoking images, and inspiring commentary and music. The audience gains greater insight into these issues through the mosaic of stories, and a view of a growing movement to support women as they age.
Houseboat Wars
Marianne Dolan
Houseboat Wars is a folktale documentary. The five heroes gravitate to the Sausalito waterfront as rebellious youngsters in the late 1960s looking for music and freedom. The first time the law huffs and puffs at their funky paradise, they fight back mostly for the fun of it. As threats to their unique community increase over the next 40 years, so does their ingenuity. Do they outwit the establishment or join it?
